Participants included ADRA, Red Cross, PDoH, Governor’s Representative, CEO of Social Services for New Ireland Province, and Mr Shit (local pump-out contractor), Maiom Primary and Kaselok Primary schools, Kavieng Soap, Fissoa Technical College, Rural Health Aiders, Coca Cola, National Broadcasting Corporation, Huilong Enterprises hardware. The CBSE took orders for 3 toilets, washing tubs, and smaller items, worth a total of over 2850 Kina in sales for the day, as well as directing more customers to their permanent office.
The New Ireland Province WASH Forum, organised by Live & Learn Kavieng, was held on 23rd September 2016, following the WASH Field Day in order to build on momentum created. Key WASH partners in the province gave presentations on their work, and Live & Learn presented on the Sanitation Marketing and WASH in Schools components of our program, as well as providing an introduction to the PNG National WASH Policy and facilitating the overall Forum. A participatory workshop reflected on the Provincial WASH situation and lead to consensus to develop the Provincial WASH Policy. The CEO for Social Services agreed this should be via a working group and Live & Learn was nominated by the gathering to lead the process, indicating a high level of support and respect for Live & Learn’s work in WASH in the Province.
