Learning and Sharing at WPSMIP Forum

In November the Project Managers for the Western Pacific Sanitation Marketing & Innovation Program offices in PNG, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Fiji travelled to the Live & Learn office in Melbourne to participate in a week of sessions to reflect on the achievements of the program over the past two years, and to plan for the scale up phase of the program activities.

In addition to the project managers, selected project officers for WASH in Schools and Hygiene Promotion joined the discussions. Representatives from the program partners, International Water Centre and International Women’s Development Agency, also participated in the forum sessions concerning the program monitoring, action research, evaluation and learning approaches and tools, and the mainstreaming of gender and social inclusion into the program activities. The week spent together was invaluable for sharing successes, and reflecting on lessons learned in establishing community-based sanitation enterprises, and improving community hygiene practice and access to sanitation in schools.
